Nintendo Switch Surpasses 1 Million Units Sold in Japan

Kadokawa's video game news website Famitsu reported on Wednesday that the Nintendo Switch has sold more than 1 million units in Japan. As of June 25, 17 weeks since the Switch's March 3 launch, the estimated total is 1,016,473 units.

Famitsu also reported the five top-selling Nintendo Switch games and their estimated total Japanese sales as of June 25:

  1. Mario Kart Deluxe (launched April 28): 501,614
  2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (March 3): 460,480
  3. 1-2-Switch (March 3): 200,807
  4. ARMS (June 16): 154,845
  5. Super Bomberman R (March 3): 92,112

As of March 31, Nintendo had sold 2.74 million Switch consoles worldwide, including 600,000 units in Japan, 1.2 million units in the Americas, and 940,000 units in other regions. The console had sold an estimated 330,637 units in Japan within three days of its launch, and it surpassed 500,000 units in Japan in four weeks, outpacing Sony's PlayStation 4 over the same time period.
