Comic Market 92 Attracts 500,000 Attendees Across 3 Days

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The Comic Market 92 (Comiket 92) event in Tokyo drew approximately 190,000 attendees on its third day on Sunday, for a total across all three days of 500,000 attendees.

Comiket does not have unique passes for visitors, so a person who attends all three days would be counted three times.

Total attendance was down from last summer's Comiket 90 event with 530,000 attendees, and down from last December's Comiket 91 event with 550,000 attendees.

The last time the overall attendance was down to 500,000 was at Comiket 81 in winter 2011. Comiket 84 set both a summer and an overall record in 2013 with 590,000 attendees.

The convention drew around 160,000 attendees on its first day, and around 150,000 attendees on its second day. The first day total was up from last summer's 150,000 attendees at Comiket 90, but the second-day number was down from 170,000 last summer.

Tokyo Big Sight's West 2 Hall was closed at this summer's event due to expansion construction work to prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Comiket 93 will be held on December 29-31.
