Ikuto Yamashita's Evangelion Anima Novels With Alternate Ending Get Print Book Release in Japan

posted on by Bayleigh Baker

Eva Info, the official site for Evangelion-related news and information, revealed on October 5 that Kadokawa will publish Ikuto Yamashita's Evangelion ANIMA 1 and Evangelion ANIMA 2 novels in book form on November 30 in Japan to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the novel series. Yamashita serialized the two novels in Dengeki Hobby Magazine in 2008-2013. The novels offer a "what if" alternate ending to the Evangelion TV anime.

Eva Info describes the story:

What if the Human Instrumentality Project had never begun? Three years have passed, and Shinji Ikari is 17 years old. A "what if" story that takes place three years later, branching off from the 24th episode ("The Final Messenger") of the TV anime. This popular novel series serialized by Dengeki Hobby Magazine is finally being compiled into book form to commemorate its 10th anniversary! What future has Shinji Ikari created at the age of 17!?

ASCII Media Works published a Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA Visual Book for the novels in 2010.

Kadokawa will publish the novels at 1,400 yen (about US$12) each, featuring author Ikuto Yamashita's colored cover illustrations (pictured below).
