Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens Anime Premieres on January 12

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The official website for the television anime of Chiaki Kisaki and Hako Ichiiro's Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens (Hakata Pork Bones Ramens) light novel series revealed on Friday that the anime will premiere on Tokyo MX, BS11, and AT-X on January 12.

Kenji Yasuda (Arata The Legend, Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth - The Animation) is directing the anime at Satelight. Shogo Yasukawa (Terraformars, Alderamin on the Sky) is handling series composition, Hidenori Inoue is designing the characters, and Kotaro Nakagawa (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Hayate the Combat Butler) is composing the music. Yoshikazu Iwanami (Fate/Zero, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) is the sound director.

Kishida Kyōdan & The Akeboshi Rockets will perform the opening theme song "Stray." TRI4TH, a five-member male jazz band that formed in 2006, are performing the ending theme song.

The story of the novels takes place in Fukuoka. At first glance, the city seems like a peaceful one, but under the surface, crime is running rampant. The city's Hakata ward is home to the professionals of the underworld: professional killers, detectives, informants, professional revenge seekers, those skilled in torture, and more. And according to urban legend, even a "killer of professional killers" exists in the city. When stories of the men in the underworld are told, a "professional killer murder" appears.

The novel series won the first prize for the 20th Dengeki Novel Awards. Kisaki and Ichiiro launched the novel series in 2014, and Kadokawa published the seventh novel on July 25.
