Author Ichiei Ishibumi revealed in the afterword of the 25th volume of his and illustrator Miyama-Zero's High School DxD light novel series on Tuesday that High School DxD Hero, the fourth season of the High School DxD television anime series adaptation of the novels, will cover the story of the novel series' ninth and 10th volumes.

The anime will premiere on the AT-X channel on Tuesday, April 10 at 11:00 p.m., and then it will run on the Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, TV Aichi, and BS11 channels. It will also stream on the AbemaTV service from Tuesday, April 10 at 24:00 (effectively midnight the next day), followed by other streaming services.

Tokyo's Shinjuku Piccadilly theater will host a "Premium Party" advance screening of the first episode, along with a talk show with cast members Yūki Kaji, Yōko Hikasa, Azumi Asakura, and Shizuka Itou, on March 30 at 8:00 p.m.

Yoshifumi Sueda (Rail Wars!, episode director for Gosick, MAOYU, So, I Can't Play H!) is directing the series at Passione (Haitai Nanafa, Hinako Note, Rail Wars!). Kenji Konuta (Blood Lad, Servamp, Library War) is handling the series composition, and Makoto Uno (The Qwaser of Stigmata, Rail Wars!, Love Hina) is the character designer.
