Kingdom Hearts III Game's DLC Briefly Listed With January 23 Debut on PS4, February 25 Debut on Xbox One

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The official YouTube channel for Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts franchise briefly posted a video on Friday that revealed new information about the planned DLC for the Kingdom Hearts III game. The video description listed that the planned DLC, titled "Re Mind," would launch on PlayStation 4 on January 23 and on Xbox One on February 25.

The video was uploaded on Friday as an "unlisted" video, meaning only those with a direct link could access the video. After news reports started surfacing about the video, Square Enix removed the video from its YouTube channel, and has not yet confirmed the release date details outside of that video description.

Game director Tetsuya Nomura had revealed some extra information about the DLC at a franchise orchestral concert in Osaka on November 30. At the concert, Nomura stated that a new trailer for the game would launch in December, and that Square Enix would reveal the game's release date in December. Nomura also showed an exclusive video for the audience about three new features that the DLC would have: "Greeting Data," "Slide Show," and "Premium Menu." "Greeting Data" allows players to create a diorama onscreen by choosing location settings, characters, poses, items, and special effects. Players can then take screenshots of their creations. "Slide Show" lets players take those screenshots and create a slideshow with effects and music. "Premium Menu" features two parts: "Fast Pass" and "Black Code." "Fast Pass" lets users change various settings in order to more easily play the game. In contrast, "Black Code" lets players change various settings to make the game harder.

The DLC will have a new scenario temporarily titled "Re Mind," a "limit cut episode" and boss fight, and a secret episode and boss fight. The DLC in Japan will also offer the option to switch to the English dub of the game. Nomura previously announced that there will also be a free DLC that will include a new keyblade and form change that will release around the same time as the paid DLC.

Square Enix released the game on January 25 in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on January 29 in the West.
