We asked photographer LEANNE, "What tips can you offer those getting into cosplay photography to get the shots they want?"
"People skills! Also study up on the character you're shooting, and just like for cosplayers, get to know each other a bit. Work with what you have, if your shooting a plains character in a city, find a background that you don't hate and just work with it. If you're skilled at photoshop than work with a background you can change, otherwise shoot with a low depth of field and make sure all the focus is on the cosplayer."
About the photo shoot:
"Kitri's been my friend for longer than I've been taking pictures. I was with her when she won her first cosplay contest, and I'm not going anywhere any time soon. We live in different countries, and this shoot was done while I was on holiday in Scotland. She'd scouted out a location for me, and even brought along her dog. I had so much fun doing this, it was different from anything I've shot back home, I think I learned how much a setting can really change a picture with this shoot!"
