Comment:
Mobile Suit Gundam was originally planned to run for 52 episodes, but due to low ratings, the series was cut down to 39. Sunrise, however, was given a one-month extension to finish the series; thus bringing up the episode count to 43. Much like Star Trek, Gundam's popularity sparked through episode reruns after the show's cancellation.
