A few scenes from The Secret of Mamo were used along with many scenes from Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro to make the laser disc based arcade game Cliff Hanger, released in 1983.

The 1978 TOHO English dub included on the Discotek DVD was revised and restored from various fan copies of the dub and an Italian editted DVD.

The first Lupin III anime to ever be dub into English.

Originally the opening of the movie was for Zenigata to believe that Lupin died in a shipwreck, but was ultimately change to him believeing that Lupin got hang at the gallows. The idea of Zenigata witnessing Lupin dying in a ship wreck was recycled in the Fuma Conspiracy OVA.

The last Lupin related anime in which Zenigata's full name was Inspector Heiji Zenigata VII. While in his later anime appearances it was established that his full name was Inspector Koichi Zenigata rather than sharing the same name as his ancestor.

The trailer for this film includeds recycled footage from the Lupin III Pilot film and the first episode of the Green Jacket TV series.

When Discotek Media obtain distribution rights to the film, they were able to release it on DVD with no alterations to the copyrighted products shown in various scenes.

The mini cooper driving up the stairs and the sewer car chase scene were derived from the 1969 film "The Italian Job".

The ear phone gag was derived from the film "Goldfinger".

The "Tacitus taecum annus" butterflies are actually ficitional despite that they're implied to have been an actual breed of butterflies long extinct.

The "Tele-Pach" orange rock candies that Lupin was seen eating are an actual product similar to Pop Rocks. Yasuo Yamada was the announcer for the Tele-Pach TV commercials during the 70's.

The Clark Bars Justice League ad was an actual ad seen various DC comics excluding Lupin who was added to the ad for this movie. The art was done by Dick Giordano.

According to Fred Patten of Streamline Pictures. Mark Merlino came up with the title: "Mystery of Mamo".

Originally TMS had no internal copies of the production of the 1978 English dub for Japan Airlines. Their distributor Toho has commissioned a lot of films for international releases back in the 70s. Decades later, new information on who did the voice work for the 1978 English dub has since surfaced.

The weapons Gorden's men use are M16A1's & Colt M1911-Government(Zenigata also uses this type of gun).

The theater pamphlets that were handed out when this movie premiered in Japan, included bios on the characters. The section on Goemon’s bio claims his sword the Zantetsuken is a fusion of three other master swordmarker’s blades. This info on the sword was never mentioned in the movie or any other Lupin productions.

Before the information on the 1978 English dub for Japan Airlines surfaced, it was previously rumored that Peter Fernandez and the cast of the Speed Racer English dub did the voicework. Until it was later proved to be a Wikipedia hoax.
