In episode 14 at 03:24, the novel that the military police officer throws on the ground is titled “The Crab Canning Ship” (Kani Kousen or 蟹工船). It's a novel written by the leftist writer Takiji Kobayashi (小林 多喜二) in 1929 and deals with the crew of a crab fishing ship and their suffering under capitalist exploitation.
