Trivia:

The "hyakujuuou" in "Hyakujuu Ou Golion" literally means "hundred beast king," but it the Japanese term for "king of beasts." So, the title translated actually means, "King of Beasts Go-lion."

It is quite obvious for anyone who is familar with Japanese that the "go" in Go-lion means "five," the number of robot lions that make up Go-lion.

The name of the five space travellers who eventually pilot the robot lions that form Go-lion have surnames that are usually metal references: a) Kogane means "gold" b) Kurogane means "iron" c) Shirogane means "silver" d) Suzuishi means "little stone" e) Seidou means "bronze."
