Trivia:

Saint Odessa Girls' School is named after Odessa, one of the focal points of the One Year War in Mobile Suit Gundam.

Masashi Hirose had just recorded his lines as Mr. Ral for the first four episodes when he was hospitalized for an unspecified illness on September 2014. A month later, he was replaced by Katsuhisa Houki for the rest of the series.

Team SRSC's three Gundam Ez-SR units (Intruder, Eliminator, and Shadow Phantom) are configured similarly to the titular mecha trio in Sunrise's 1987 anime series Metal Armor Dragonar.

Team Von Braun and Granada Academy are named after the moon cities in the Universal Century timeline.

Sekai's narration for the episode 24 preview ends with the line: "Moe agare!" ("Rage on!"), a reference to the lyrics of the Mobile Suit Gundam theme song "Tobe! Gundam" ("Fly! Gundam").

The Gundam Amazing Red Warrior has the initials "S.K." on some of the armor panels. These initials are those of Shiro Kyoda, the original creator of the PF-78-3 Perfect Gundam III "Red Warrior" in the manga Plamo-Kyoshiro.

In episode 1, the Space stage of the opening Gunpla Battle takes place on the Axis asteroid from the Universal Century timeline.

In episode 1, the Desert stage where Sekai first tries out Gunpla Battle is the exact same area where Sei and Reiji first teamed up in episode 1 of Gundam Build Fighters.

In episode 1, the scene where Sekai is showing the gang a picture of Mirai is similar to what Domon Kasshu did in episode 1 of Mobile Fighter G Gundam.

In episode 1, Yuuma's loss of interest in Gunpla battle is similar to Amuro Ray's loss of interest in mobile suits in the early episodes of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.

In episode 1, promotional posters of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and Turn A Gundam are displayed in the Gunpla Battle Club room.

In episode 1, a still shot of the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II slicing an RMS-106 Hizack in half mimics the scene in episode 1 of Mobile Suit Gundam where Amuro Ray in the RX-78-2 Gundam used a beam saber for the first time on an MS-06 Zaku II.

In episode 2, Mr. Ral looks at Sekai and says, "You have good eyes." This is the same line Ramba Ral said to Amuro Ray in episode 19 of Mobile Suit Gundam.

In episode 2, Eri Shinoda's personality change when she removes her eyeglasses is a nod to Lady Une of New Mobile Report Gundam Wing.

In episode 3, the title "Her Name Is Gyanko" is a pun on New Mobile Report Gundam Wing episode 34 "And Its Name Is Epyon".

In episode 3, Sekai's opening monologue mentions his master training in Guyana, a reference to Domon Kasshu training in the same country in Mobile Fighter G Gundam.

In episode 3, Ral explains that the "R35" in his Gouf R35 is short for "Ral, age 35". This is in reference to Ramba Ral's age in Mobile Suit Gundam.

In episode 3, Gyanko makes a bell sound on her R-Gyagya's shield and says, "A charming sound." This is a reference to M'quve and his antique vase in Mobile Suit Gundam.

In episode 3, the Song Dynasty Vase team ambushes the Build Burning Gundam with the Jet Stream Attack, a maneuver by the Black Tri-Stars from episode 24 of Mobile Suit Gundam.

In episode 4, G-Muse is a fictional version of Gundam Front Tokyo, a Gundam-themed museum and gift shop in Odaiba, Tokyo.

In episode 4, the bakery shop owner from episodes 1 and 9 of the previous season returns as a store clerk at G-Muse.

In episode 5, before the Try Fighters begin their qualifying match, Yuuma says, "Nimu, yokai." ("Mission accepted."), which is Heero Yuy's catchphrase in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.

In episode 5, Team Gaia Dragon's GN-X units are painted and armed similarly to the main mecha trio of Sunrise's 1989 anime series Madō King Granzort.

In episode 6, Akira Suga's introduction is similar to that of Sleggar Law in episode 31 of Mobile Suit Gundam.

In episode 7, Team FAITH is named after FAITH (Fast Acting Integrated Tactical Headquarters), an elite special forces unit of ZAFT in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.

In episode 7, Team Babylonia is named after Cosmo Babylonia, the nation established by the Crossbone Vanguard in Mobile Suit Gundam F91.

In episode 7, the scene where the Build Burning Gundam has the Destiny Gundam trapped in a cross armbreaker references two Gundam titles. The Destiny Gundam's attempt to crush the Build Burning Gundam's head is similar to the "Shining Finger", one of the Shining Gundam's finishers in Mobile Fighter G Gundam. The Destiny Gundam's hands are equipped with MMI-X340 "Palma Fiocina" palm beam cannons, which are used for extreme close-range combat; they are often called "Shinn Finger" by fans because of their similar use as the Shining Gundam's attack. The Build Burning Gundam breaking the Destiny Gundam's arm references a similar move Lowe Guele did to destroy the Gundam Astray Gold Frame in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray.

In episode 8, Minato's dream sequence features cameo appearances by Rolan Cehack a.k.a. "Laura Rolla" (Turn A Gundam), Nadia Ronah (Mobile Suit Gundam F91), Nina Purpleton and Cima Garahau (Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory), Mudie Holcroft and Selene McGriff (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer), Aisha (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED), Mouar Pharaoh (Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam), Kati Mannequin (Mobile Suit Gundam 00), Ennil El (After War Gundam X), Dorothy Catalonia (New Mobile Report Gundam Wing), and Chara Soon (Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ).

In episode 8, Minato's prized creation in his dream sequence is the Try Zeta, a customized MSZ-010 Double Zeta Gundam that pays homage to Invincible Steel Man Daitarn 3 and the Brave series - both of which were produced by Sunrise.

In episode 9, the scene where Akira slaps Yomi is a reference to a similar scene between Sleggar Law and Mirai Yashima in episode 36 of Mobile Suit Gundam.

In episode 10, while Yuuma is imagining his date with Mirai, he references episode 19 of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, where Kamille Bidan went on a date with Four Murasame.

In episode 10, while Yuuma and Mirai shop for Gunpla at G-Muse, fictional Gunpla versions of various mobile suits are featured. One example is the RMS-154 Barzam from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (which eventually got a legitimate release in 2017). "Beargguy II" is a fictional version of the Beargguy III kit, colored brown like the original Beargguy from Model Suit Gunpla Builders: Beginning G. The MS-04X (MA-04X) Zakrello (Rainer Cziomer Color Ver.) was used in episode 23 of the previous season.

In episode 10, several female models at the Tokyo Gunpla Collection reference numerous Gundam titles. These include lookalikes of Nanai Miguel (Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack), Murrue Ramius (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED), Reiko Holinger (Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 Card Builder), and Lalah Sune (Mobile Suit Gundam). The models holding the Gundam Rose and Zebra Gundam from Mobile Fighter G Gundam are dressed like their respective Gundam Fighters. The model holding a Gaga also carries a beach ball that resembles Veda from Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Another girl wears a swimsuit that resembles the uniform of Char Aznable from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. The model carrying a bazooka references episode 49 of Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, where Katejina Loos ordered her Shrike Team members to fight in their bikinis as a means to distract Uso Evin.

In episode 10, Taku's rock band SGOCK III is named after the Zeon mobile suit MSM-07 Z'Gok from Mobile Suit Gundam. It also references SGOCK, which was Koji Matsumoto's idol group in Model Suit Gunpla Builders Beginning G.

In episode 10, some stores and restaurants at G-Muse and the beach are named after characters and mecha from the Gundam universe, such as "Sea Book" (named after Seabook Arno of Mobile Suit Gundam F91) and "Yazan Gable Beach House Hambrabi" (one of the main antagonists and his mobile suit in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam).

In episode 11, while Mr. Ral and the Try Fighters are on a road trip to Nielsen Labs, Sekai and Fumina sing "Anime Ja Nai - Yume wo Wasureta Furui Chikyūjin yo", the first opening theme of Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ.

In episode 11, Team White Wolf and its leader Kenshou Matsunaga are named after Shin Matsunaga, the Zeon ace pilot in the Universal Century timeline.

In episode 11, the debut of the Gundam Amazing Red Warrior is similar to the scene in the beginning of episode 1 of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 where the O Gundam emerged from the sky.

In episode 13, around 6:22, when Hoshino gets angry, she gets depicted like a powerpuff girl.

In episode 14, Team Tiger and Rabbit is named after the Sunrise anime series Tiger & Bunny.

In episode 14, Lucas Nemesis uses an RGM-89 Jegan during his demonstration battle as a nod to Aila Jyrkiainen in the previous season. The battle stage is also the island estate of the Team Nemesis Chairman.

In episode 14, the three opponents facing Lucas Nemesis are roughly a chubby Banagher Links (Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn), a short-haired Trowa Barton (New Mobile Report Gundam Wing), and a tall Uso Evin (Mobile Suit Victory Gundam).

In episode 14, when Gyanko watches Sekai assemble his Build Burning Gundam, she mentions that it could continue fighting for another 10 years. This is a paraphrase of M'quve's quote of Odessa's resources allowing the Principality of Zeon to continue fighting for 10 years in Mobile Suit Gundam.

In episode 16, Gundam Tryon 3's combination sequence is an homage to Toei's Chō Denji Machine Voltes V, which was animated by Sunrise.

In episode 20, Saga Adou comments that Lucas Nemesis' Crossbone Gundam X1 Full Cloth isn't just for show and is strong enough to push back Axis. This is a reference to the RX-93 Nu Gundam and the climactic scene where Amuro Ray and Char Aznable used their combined Newtype abilities to push one half of the Axis asteroid away from Earth in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack.

In episode 21, the three posters of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation are seen on the wall of the Shiki triplets' home. This was a small commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, as the episode aired on March 4, 2015.

In episode 24, the opening scene where the Try Fighters enter the colony is a nod to the beginning of the first episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.

In episode 25, the RX-105 Ξ (Xi) Gundam (from the novel Hathaway's Flash) and RX-124 Gundam TR-6 (Woundwort) (from Advance of Zeta: The Flag of Titans) make their animated debut during the free-for-all Gunpla Battle. The Ξ Gundam won a fan poll months prior to the episode's broadcast.

In episode 25, three Gunpla featured in the free-for-all Gunpla Battle are winners of the "Original MS Championship" contest. The RX-78-themed Unicorn Gundam won the Gundam Tri-Age division. The GP-AL Gundam Albion (a 1/144 scale RX-78GP01 Gundam GP01 "Zephyranthes" with parts of the 1/144 RX-78GP03S Gundam GP03S "Stamen" and the 1/1700 EX Model MSC-07 Albion) won the Gunpla Build Division. The "Go! Go! Our Captain Char" (a GM with a Sazabi head and livery that resembles Char Aznable's uniform) won the Gundam Breaker 2 division.
