This is the first Jewelpet series in seven years to not feature both Garnet and Sapphie on their lead roles. According to Ayaka Saito, she was saddened on their exclusion in the series and stated that it was a "sad farewell due to behind the scenes circumstances".

Although the series episodes is divided into 2 parts, the third part is based on the minigame "Tadaima tōsō-chū" from the Jewel Watch toy.

Labra's pose in the first "Tadaima tōsō-chū" short is based on the iconic pose of Gendo Ikari from Hideyuki Anno's mecha anime "Evangelion".

In the second part of episode 4 there are reference from Detective fiction, among these, there are the special Inrō from the Jidaigeki's Drama "Mito Kōmon", the outfit and gadgets belonging to Conan Edogawa from "Detective Conan" and clothing beloning to "Sherlock Holmes".

The first part of Episode 32 is a tribute to the anime franchise's 7th Anniversary, with also includes an edited scene of the First Series's Opening Sequence.

In episode 2, Luea and Laura pulled out a parody from Cat's Eye with some slight modification, towards the end of the first half.

In episode 2, the word "Viki" is a reference to the word Wiki or "Wikipedia".

In episode 6, two Sanrio character made a cameo; My Melody and Hello kitty first appeared as two small peluche, then transformed into giant combat robot by Luea.

In episode 16, the card game Sapphie and his copy were playing, is a reference from Yu-Gi-Oh card game series.

The Tadaima tōsō-chū in episode 20, is clearly a parody from the long-running prime-time television detective series know in Japan as "G-Men '75".

In episode 31, Ruby, Sapphie and Luna were all dressed up as Hello Kitty, Cinnamon and My Melody while Labra is dressed up as a Banana and Larimar is wearing a costume resembling Charotte during the second part. In the "Tadaima tōsō-chū" segment, several Sanrio Characters appeared as Cameos, including: Keroppi Hasunoue, Hangyodon, Monkichi, Pompompurin, Tuxedo Sam, Kirimi, Bonbonribon, Kiki & Lala and Cinnamon.

In Episode 33, Airi is dressed in the same magical girl attire as Rinko of the first series. It also marks the second appearance of the Jewel Stick since Jewelpet Happiness.
