This anime has never received a complete home video release, outside of DVDs made strictly for rental purposes. In 1999 Pony Canyon released eight select episodes across six VHS tapes, and then the first 128 episodes were released across 32 VHS tapes from late 2003 to early 2005. In 2006 Bandai Visual released twelve select episodes across three "Selection DVDs", with each DVD having a theme to it: Human Relations, Introductions, & Slapstick. Most recently, in late 2011 & early 2012 Shueisha released nine more select episodes across two "Best Of Selection DVDs" under their Jump Super Heroes banner to celebrate Kochikame's 35th Anniversary.

173 episodes as of 2000 and it is still running.
