Trivia:

The idea from Gungrave came from the cult classic Playstation 2 game by Sega.

In the opening sequence, one of the quotes scribbled on the wall reads, "They can have my gun when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers." This is an old American saying further made popular by actor/NRA chairman Charlton Heston in his crusade to defend the right to bear arms.

Another quote written on the wall reads, "You're the disease. I'm the cure." This is from Sylvester Stallone's 1985 movie Cobra.

Nightow has stated that several of the character designs are based on famous actors from the United States. For example, Jester's design is based on Jack Nicholson and Garry's is based on Steve Buscemi.

In episode 5, Brandon is working with a small office of Millennion concerned with races. The runners in these races appear very much to be thomases from the Trigun universe. Additionally, in the particular race that we see, "Michael Stampede" noses ahead to defeat "Black Chapel". This is quite likely a reference to Vash and Wolfwood from Nightow's other series.

The scene in episode 24 where Harry and Sheri are driving down narrow streets into a Millenion ambush is taken/inspired by a similar scene from the movie Clear and Present Danger.
