Trivia:

Orguss (1983) was the second part of The Super Dimension trilogy from Big West, preceded by The Super Dimension Fortress Macross (1982) and then followed by The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross (1984).

Before being licensed by ImaginAsian in 2007, Orguss was previously licensed by US Renditions in 1993. They released 17 episodes on 8 VHS tapes in dubbed only form before going bankrupt leaving the rest of the series on permanent hiatus.

Although most of US Rendition's old catalogue was bought out by Manga Entertainment in 1995, they decided not to aquire Orguss, instead they opted to go only with the more recent OVA sequel Orguss 02 from 1993.

Orguss has cameo appearances from Macross including Minmay, Shammy, and Vanessa . There are also brief unnamed appearances from Misa and a few others minor characters.

Genesis Climber Mospeada was chosen in favour over Orguss to become part of Robotech in the US despite not being a Super Dimension show. This was because Harmony Gold believed the basic themes of Mospeada clicked better with the other two shows adapted to create Robotech. Also Harmoy Gold's decision was made even easier by the fact that had already attained the rights to Mospeada since they had originally planned to air the show on it's own.

Even though Orguss uses mainly original music, it does curiously enough use at several points some musical cues taken directly from Space Adventure Cobra, another anime series scored by Kentaroh Haneda a year before.

The Super Dimension Century Orguss is included in the upcoming Playstation 2 game, Super Robot Wars Z. It has been stated by the producer that Orguss's story is the main focus of the game.

Orguss made its first unofficial appearance in episode 36 of Superdimensional Fortress Macross, where it was part of the cavalry defending the Macross against Quamzin's ship.
