Trivia:

Kushinada is a genuine Japanese myth. The God Susano-oh became fond of Princess Inada. Unfortunately, Inada-hime was doomed to be sacrificed to (eaten by) the many-headed monster Yamata-no-orochi. So Susano-oh made a bargain with Inada-hime's parents that he would slay Orochi if he could marry her. He did, and when he was chopping up Orochi he found a sword in the tail, which is named Kusanagi-no-tsurugi.

In episode 19, a news reporter is heard describing a barrier field. In the dubbed version, at the end of the news report, the reporter signs off as Kintaro Oe, of Golden Boy fame. The VA is also Doug Smith, who also voices Kintaro Oe.
