Trivia:

Don't miss the silly Dragonball reference Kobayashi/Poemi makes in the second episode.

The black Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V that Nanase drives is the same one used by Nabeshin on episode 26 of Excel Saga.

GDW (Great Director Watanabe) is a pun on GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka).

Nabeshin mentions stands when he is fighting the hanging balls dude at the beginning of the first episode. This is reference to the manga/anime Jojo's Bizarre Adventures.

Look for Rikudou Koushi (Excel Saga) as the news reporter in ep. 1.

At the end of the scene where K learns he's an alien, look for Menci (Excel Saga) on the table.

The Aasu sisters' given names contain number puns, from youngest to oldest: hito(1), futa(2), mi(3), shi(4), itsu(5), mutsu(6), nana(7).

Hitomi's outfit in the hentai scene is from the classic anime Project A-ko.

The UFO Poemy rides in is the spaceships that Mars People use in Metal Slug.

Make sure to continue watching after the ending credits of episode 2. There are additional scenes that many viewers may have missed on the first viewing.

Due to its objectionable content involving portrayal of minors engaging in lewd sexual acts, Puni Puni Poemy was banned in New Zealand.
