Viola and Cesario are names from Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night". In the play, Viola disguises herself as a boy, calling herself Cesario, to find gainful employment.

"Eclair" is French for "lightning".

"Lumiere" is French for "light".

"Donnerschlag" is German for "thunderclap".

The names of the La Muse ships are named after the Muses in Greek Mythology.

Mercredi and Vendredi are French for Wednesday and Friday respectively.

Kiddy Grade was originally planned, in 1999, as a series of three 30-minute OVAs.

The 'pre-story' novels Kiddy Grade Pr. by Tomohiko Aoki are set 10 years before the series starts and were published prior to the the anime airing. The main characters, Maryann and Bran, make a cameo appearance in the anime in the form of a flashback.

The ED song Future was set to the tune of the pre-existing song "Magic" from the Little Viking album STHLM.

In episode 1, when Eclair and Lumiere disguise themselves as pizza delivery girls, the brand printed on the box is "Morton's Pizza," the exact same brand as seen in Yukikaze, another GONZO title.

The name "Laughing Jester" for the financial-manipulation racket in episode 5 is almost certainly a nod to The Motley Fool, a major investment advice site.

There are errors in the onscreen text in episode 9: planet Dardanos is also written as Dardans, and the name Verrucchio is also written Verracio.

The young boy saved by Eclair and Lumiere in a flashback in episode 20 is actually a regular character.

Onscreen text in episode 21 appears to have been taken from a news report as it mentions weapons inspections in Iraq.
