The Principal of the fictional "Yazawa School of Arts" featured in this manga and its spinoff, Paradise Kiss, is no other than author Ai Yazawa herself.
The famous musician, Ken Nakagawa, that Tsutomu is often mistaken for is a character from another work of Ai Yazawa's called Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai. However that story takes place before he becomes famous.
