In Volume 8, two cameo appearance are made by Hirata and Chiemi on page 106-107. The manga artist, Shizure Seino, later wrote a separate manga starring these two characters in her manga, Love Attack.
In volume 3, a character approaches the lead character, Kyo Aizawa, her long black hair completely hiding her head, in a very strong allusion to the character Sadako, the girl from the Japanese horror film, Ringu
