The author of the manga (Mitsuru Adachi), is famous for a lot of his previous works that center around the sport of baseball. A lot of references to previous works of his are made throughout the manga of ''Katsu'', such as one of Satoyama's major rivals being a baseball superstar.

Mitsuru Adachi, the author, makes numerous cameo appearances in the manga, such as in restaurants or in the street. Occasionally, the story pans over to his home to watch him work on Katsu! He appears as a man with long hair and glasses that cover his face.
