All of the Pokedex Holders are named after one of the Pokemon games.
Yellow and Emerald are the only Pokedex Holders that do not have game counterparts.
All of the main characters that are based on game characters also have anime counterparts: Red = Ash, Blue = Gary, Green = Mariah (Opening 1 cameo), Gold = Jimmy, Crystal = Marina, Silver = Silver (Legend of Thunder Opening), Sapphire = May, Ruby = Brendan (movie 6 cameo), Platnium = Dawn, Diamond = Lucas (movie 11 cameo), Pearl = Jun.
If you look closely, different Nintendo systems including a Game Boy and Nintendo DS can be seen in same of the panels.
During the series, there are three different people that are considered the leader of Team Rocket during some point of time: Giovanni, Pryce, and Silver.
Wally was originally thought to be the third Pokedex Holder of Hoenn until Emerald appeared after the FireRed LeafGreen saga.
Yellow's real name is Amarillo del Bosque Verde (Yellow of the Viridian Forest).
Although Viz media only dudded the first seven books, all of the books have been translated into English by the Singapore publisher, Chuang Yi.
Despite Yellow being a girl, many people first believe her to be a boy because of the straw hat that she wears over her pony tail. Infact, it took Red about a year to realize that Yellow was a girl.
The series is divided into eight "chapters". The Red/Green/Blue chapter runs from volumes 1-3, the Yellow chapter runs from volumes 4-7, the Gold/Silver/Crystal chapter runs from volumes 8-14 (with one chapter in volume 15), the Ruby/Sapphire chapter runs from volume 15-22, the FireRed/LeafGreen chapter runs from volumes 22-26, the Emerald chapter runs from volumes 26-29, and the most recent chapters, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and HeartGold/SoulSilver are ongoing.
As of 2009, Viz is rereleasing Pokemon Adventures starting from volume 1. They released two "best of" compilations for Red and Yellow in 2006, and when those sold well, they decided to restart the series, much to the delight of fans.
