Trivia:

"Deka" is not the correct romanization of kanji 刑事 (keiji, police detective) but a secret nickname invented by gangsters of Meiji era. At that time, plain-clothed detectives were called 角袖巡査 (kakusode jūnsa, "policeman with square sleeves") or "kadusode" for short. To hide the real subject of their dialog, gangsters rearranged its syllables and turned it into "sodekaku" or even "kusodeka" (the underlined part means "shit" in Japanese, showing their disrespect), thus police detectives were called "deka" ever since.
