Born in Quebec and raised in California, Gilles Poitras is a professional librarian who follows closely the world of anime and manga. He now resides in Oakland and he works as a Librarian in San Francisco. Poitras has degrees in Religious Studies and Library Science and has published several books about anime, most notably The Anime Companion: What's Japanese in Japanese Animation?.
