In the year 2012, the world was destroyed by the invaders MU that appeared suddenly out of nowhere, leaving only Tokyo as the last city of human resistance.
Or that’s what Ayato had been taught all his life in Tokyo. The truth was that Tokyo was actually the invaders’ last stand against the human race and MU has brainwashed and kept the citizens of Tokyo as their prisoners. Two mysterious women Reika and Haruka appear in front of Ayato and take him out of Tokyo and introduce him to the outside world, with RahXephon. Instead of blinding himself to reality and chaining himself to lies, Ayato decides to embrace it, and begins to fight the forces that threaten his life and the ones he love by riding inside RahXephon.
