Hatsune Miku Quake Charity Figure on Sale at Anime Expo

posted on by Gia Manry
Good Smile Company to again donate 1,000 yen per sale of Hatsune Miku: Support ver.

The website for "Mikunopolis," the virtual idol Hatsune Miku's upcoming performance at Anime Expo in Los Angeles next week, announced on Friday that the earthquake charity figure of Miku will be on sale at the convention.

The charity figure is a reissue (with limited-edition accessories) of an earlier release in Good Smile Company's Nendoroid line of super-deformed (SD) figures. The company first offered the charity version in April, after the March 11 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.

Good Smile Company agreed to donate 1,000 yen (about US$12.50) from every sale to the earthquake relief efforts of the Japanese Red Cross. However, the website has not revealed what the figure's price will be at Anime Expo. Its original price in Japan was 3,000 yen (US$37).

As of May 2, 74,394 sets had been ordered for a total charity donation of 74,394,000 yen (US$924,600). However, Good Smile Company President (and Anime Expo guest) Takanori Aki announced on Thursday that the total has increased to 74,465,000 yen (US$925,500).

As with other Nendoroid figures, the "Hatsune Miku: Support ver." figure comes with interchangeable facial expressions and accessories. The charity version adds cheerleading pom-poms and a musical note flag that reads "Issho ni Ganbarō!" ("Let's Do Our Best Together!"). The Mikunopolis website lists other items that will be on sale at the concert.
