Indie studio to animate new opening for Dragon Quest I, II, III collection for the Wii

The indie anime studio Kamikaze Douga will animate a new opening sequence to the Famicom & Super Famicom Dragon Quest I, II, III video game collection to be released in Japan in September 15 for the Nintendo Wii console. The collection will include both the Famicom (Nintendo) and Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) versions of Dragon Quest I, Dragon Quest II, and Dragon Quest III on one disc. The collection is being released in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the franchise. The collection will also include footage of the latest game in the franchise, Dragon Quest X, which is currently in development.

Kamikaze Douga also handled the animation sequences for the Dragon Quest: Shōnen Yangus to Fushigi no Dungeon, Dragon Quest IX, and Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road Victory video games.

Kamikaze Douga made a splash in March of 2009 by co-animating a music video for pop singer Namie Amuro. The following month, it began streaming its science-fiction anime short project "Amanatsu." According to the studio's official website, it was also involved in the opening video for Sunrise's Freedom OVA and in the 2007 animated film Mushiking Super Battle Movie: The Upgraded Armored Beetle of Darkness. The company also worked on the "Connected" music video for pop singer Ayumi Hamasaki, and animated a music video for the Japanese rock band Base Ball Bear last year.
