Athena/DreamParty reps subdue suspect who allegedly photographed booth models

The Japanese game company Athena announced on Monday that company representatives subdued a suspect who allegedly used a hidden camera to take upskirt footage of the company's booth models at Comic Market (Comiket) 80.

Athena shared a booth with the character show DreamParty in the commercial industry area of Comic Market 80, which was held from August 12 to August 14 at the Tokyo Big Sight event center. On Saturday at about 4:00 p.m., a visitor allegedly took upskirt footage of Athena's booth models ("event companions" in Japanese) using a digital camera hidden in a bag. The company representatives "promptly" subdued the suspect and turned the suspect over to the organizers in charge of Comic Market's commercial area.

After apprehending the suspect, the Comic Market organizers allegedly confirmed that the suspect's camera contained secretly filmed video. The suspect was then turned over to the police station for the Tokyo Bay Area. (Tokyo Big Sight is located on the artificial island of Odaiba.)

Comic Market has rules prohibiting people from taking photographs of cosplayers except in the designated areas and with permission.
