Former Tokyopop Global Title Off*Beat to Resume in 2012

Artist Jen Quick reveals publishing plans for 3rd & last book

Artist Jen Lee Quick reported last week that the third and final book in her Off*Beat graphic novel series will be available next year "if my publishing plan follows through." Quick had published the first two volume through Tokyopop's "Global Manga" program in 2005 and 2006.

The story follows a teenager named Tory who "becomes obsessed by his mysterious new neighbor and begins documenting his every move. But this pursuit of friendship — and possibly something more — leads Tory to the one thing he wasn't expecting to discover."

Other artists in Tokyopop's program had widely varying reports of what happened to the rights to their titles after Tokyopop's various restructurings and shutdown of North American publishing operations. Brandon Graham's King City was eventually co-published by Tokyopop and Image Comics, while other artists' work remain incomplete.
