Teens Project Fure☆Fure TV special helps teens follow their dreams

The Japanese voice actress Aya Hirano (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Fairy Tail, Lucky Star) narrated the teen educational television special Teens Project Fure☆Fure, which aired in Japan on Sunday and will re-air on Saturday. The program recruited teenage "challengers" who wanted help in pursuing a dream.

Japan's NHK television network accepted applications for teenagers who wanted to participate in the program or offer advice to the chosen participants. The program featured a 17-year-old female high school student and boxing club member who hopes to participate in the women's boxing competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The special second "challenger" was a 14-year-old boy who will be his junior high school's last student council president because the Niigata Prefecture school closed due to damage received from a Nagano Prefecture earthquake last March. The student council president wants to host an event that celebrates people's memories at the school.

Celebrity "cheerleaders" also appeared on Teens Project Fure☆Fure and offered advice to help the teens reach their goals. The martial artist and actor Kane Kosugi (Street Fighter Alpha) helped the female boxer while the actress and former Morning Musume idol group member Natsumi Abe (Hamtaro the Movie 3) supported the student council president.
