Victoria and Albert Museum Hosts Gothic Lolita Event August 31

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Free event including DJ sets, talks and screenings, from 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Friday August 31, London's Victoria and Albert Museum near South Kensington (directions) will host Loli-POp!, "an evening of Lolita fashion" to tie in with the museum's current exhibition on Japan's "Lolita" style (called "Kitty and the Bulldog: Lolita Fashion and the Influence of Britain").

The evening will run from 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests are invited to "Be styled in pink, with frills and wigs, plus doll-like make-up with an edge." The events during the evening will be designated on a first come, first served basis, unless stated otherwise. These events include DJ sets, talks, a wig bar, a nail bar, and an eye and lips bar. There will also be a screening of the live-action film Kamikaze Girls, and a film about British Lolita Culture by the cameraman Francesco Calvano.

Neo magazine describes the event as marking the end of the museum's Lolita exhibition. However, the museum website says it will run until January 27 2013. Kitty and the Bulldog explores the influence of British fashion, including Victoriana, Punk and Gothic, on Japan's Lolita style.
