Game slated for spring 2013 to feature original story, new protagonist

The video game news website Famitsu revealed on Wednesday that the Cardfight!! Vanguard franchise will receive a video game adaptation titled Cardfight!! Vanguard: Ride to Victory. FuRyu is developing the game for the Nintendo 3DS handheld system. The game is slated to ship in spring 2013 for 5,229 yen (about US$67).

The game will feature a new original story. The game's story mode will feature a new American card fighter protagonist who is aiming to win at a national convention. The game will feature appearances by characters Aichi Sendō and Toshiki Kai. In the game players will fight rivals while also strengthening their card deck to win the national convention championship.

In the game, players can earn points through the story mode tournaments and through free play, and players can then spend those points at the "card capital" card shop to purchase better cards to build a stronger deck.

Famitsu is currently hosting screenshots from the game.

Crunchyroll is currently streaming the ongoing Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen sequel television anime series.
