Alteil Web Card Game Relaunched by Former Media Blasters Employees

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Media Blasters first launched Japanese game in English in 2008

Former Media Blasters employee Sean Molyneaux confirmed with ANN that he and other former Media Blasters employees launched the gaming software company Apocoplay. The company's first endeavor is the relaunch of the online fantasy card game Alteil.

Originally developed by Japanese game developer Dex Entertainment in 2004, the free-to-play game features more than 750 cards, 11 full card cets, and 10 EX Card Expansions. The game has artwork by Yūji Kaida (Godzilla, Gundam), character designer Katsuya Terada (Blood: The Last Vampire, Hellboy film), Rei, poporucha, Shunyu Yamashita, Yusuke Osanai, Nakaba Higurashi (Baten Kaitos), and other illustrators.

The game's first launch in English in the United States was handled by Media Blasters and CoreEdge in 2008. The license for the game reverted to its original holders in August, giving Apocoplay the opportunity to purchase the license. As part of the game's relaunch event, all users can get a 60-card set for free for the next two weeks.
