Artist Recreates Tokyo Nightscapes with Neon Dots

posted on by Bamboo Dong

Haven't been to Tokyo yet? No worries, you can live vicariously through the stationery artwork of Japanese artist Yukino Ohmura, who uses—wait for it—neon dot stickers to recreate beautiful landscapes of Tokyo at night.

In an interview with the Verge, Ohmura said, "My professor at the art university I attended told me that nocturnal themes are actually boring as artwork. Since these stickers are so well-known, I thought that I could make art more accessible to Japanese people by expressing metropolitan nightscapes with these materials."

The paintings, which can take up to three weeks to complete, are made of dot stickers anyone can buy at the stationery store, stuck onto black acrylic.

Check out some of her pieces below.

She also has a video up on YouTube showing her art process.
