Original Kamen Rider Cautions Motorcyclists About Safety

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Hiroshi Fujioka, the original Kamen Rider, joined an ad campaign to caution motorcyclists to wear proper protective gear while riding. Fujioka himself was famously injured on the set of Kamen Rider during a motorcycle stunt which left him off set for months. He's teamed up with the Osaka Police Department to help cut back on the number of motorcycle-related injuries in the area. A total of 33 people died in Osaka from chest injuries sustained during motorcycle accidents.

Fujioka stated that learning about motorcycle safety is important not only for the sake of the adult riding them, but to keep the lives of children safe as well, as they are the ones that "will be entrusted with the future of Japan." This is true not only for the children of today, but the many hundreds and thousands who will come out of the future generations.

Fujioka took up his mantle as Kamen Rider 1 for the first time in 38 years in the Heisei Rider vs. Showa Rider: Kamen Rider War feat. Super Sentai in March. He'd been more or less "retired" since he appeared in the role in 1976.

The Tokyo Metro Police held their own motorcycle safety campaign in April with the help of Mimana Orimoto's Bakuon!! manga series.
