Urusei Yatsura's Lum Flies High in Live-Action Energy Drink CM

Sumire Matsubara, a Hawaiian-raised actress, singer, and model, was recently selected as the spokesperson for SUNTORY's Regain energy drink.
At a recent stage event, Matsubara, who goes by just "Sumire," said that this was her first time "cosplaying," and it was the first time she's been so exposed at a public event, which made her a little embarrassed. When she was first offered the role, she thought, "What is this costume? I'm not going to look good in this..." but has since warmed up to it as she's gotten more familiar with the character.
Sumire is enjoying a surge of popularity in Japan, co-hosting TBS' Saturday Night Chubaw! with actor Masaaki Sakai, presenting NHK World's Choice of the Week, releasing solo singles, and acting in Tokyo Imperial Theater's stagings of Anything Goes and A Tale of Two Cities.
