Fans Vote On What Doraemon Gadgets Would Be Most Useful for Work

posted on by Chris Nishijima
How would you take a shortcut with these tools from the future?

Ever since Doraemon came from the future and entered Nobita's life, he's been changing it in countless ways, thanks in part to his various tools from the future. While Nobita's favorite reason to use one of the tools is to stand up to Gian, they've also been utilized for many other purposes, and have not only made Nobita's life more interesting, but altogether a bit easier sometimes. A recent survey of 428 individuals asked fans of the Doraemon manga which tool among Doraemon's near limitless arsenal would make their work lives easier. These were the Top 5 results.

  1. Dokodemo Door (Anywhere Door) - 230 votes (53.7%)
  2. Anki-pan (Memorization Bread) - 40 votes (9.3%)
  3. Honyaku Konnyaku (Translation Gummy) - 27 votes (6.3%)
  4. Time Machine - 14 votes (3.3%)
  5. Small Light and Moshimo Box (What If Box) tied - 11 votes (2.6%)

As usual, the fan favorite item, the Dokodemo Door won the polls with a landslide 53.7 percent of the votes, but other popular items such as the Anki-pan and Honyaku Konnyaku also made the list. Unfortunately, nobody seemed to think that the Bamboo Copter would help them with their work.

Participants were then asked to include reasons as to why this tools would make things easier and how they would use it. Reasons for use of the Dokodemo Door included ease of travel for overseas work-related trips, as well as a shorter commute to work. Some said that it would also help get to the bathroom more quickly if working at a workstation that is distant from it. Other reasons for using tools included memorizing prescriptions in medical jobs with the Anki-pan, fluid communication with oversees clients and emails with the Honyaku Konnyaku, and of course, going back in time to fix mistakes in their work with the Time Machine.

To see some of the other reasons that fans chose their tools, as well as some of the tools that didn't make the Top 5, check out the original coverage of the survey on LiveDoor. The most recent Doraemon anime began running on Disney XD this past summer, the first anime adaptation of Doraemon to hit television in the United States. Stand By Me Doraemon, the latest 3D animated Doraemon movie hit theaters in Japan starting in August.
