Video of Wooser and Locodol Mascot Playing Karuta is Mesmerizing

posted on by Bamboo Dong

Every year since 2010, Japan has held a nationwide yuru-kyara mascot contest, taking the adorable (and sometimes strange) mascots of cities, townships, prefectures, and landmarks and pitting them against each other in the annual Yuru-Kyara Grand Prix. And every year, millions of votes are cast for the several hundred mascots that are entered.

Last year, Funabashi City's hyperactive Funasshi took the title. Previous years winners included Imabari City's Bari-san bird mascot, and Kumamoto Prefecture's Kumamon bear mascot.

So far, the two mascots have already competed against each other in two events, including a soccer shoot-out, and this incredible game of karuta:

You can cast your vote for Uogokoro-kun or Wooser on their respective pages.
