16-Million Yen Evangelion Car Already Has Over 500 Lottery Applications

The high price tag on 7-Eleven's one-of-a-kind Evangelion car hasn't scared off collectors. The company announced 588 individuals placed orders for the 16 million yen (about US$138,140) 7-Eleven Limited Mitsuoka Motors Evangelion Orochi before the application window ended on November 30. 7-Eleven received 54 applications within the first two hours on November 14.
The lucky winner will be chosen by lottery.
The car, which uses the Mitsuoka Motors vehicle Orochi Gold Premium as a base, has an artistic design by Evangelion mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita. The day of delivery of the car is expected to be approximately five months after the contract of purchase is completed.
7-Eleven has collaborated multiple times with Evangelion in the past. This past August, the convenience store chain sold a US$16k giant Evangelion figure.
