Neon Genesis Evangelion Opening Parodied on Regular Show

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

This week's episode of Cartoon Network's Regular Show had a very familiar opening sequence. The episode closely mimicked Neon Genesis Evangelion's "Cruel Angel Thesis" opening, even including a song in Japanese. The song, titled "Daybreak on a Rose~Petal" sounds like it's mostly ridiculous, including a line like "Bokura ga kyodai, bokura ga senshi, bokura ga baby ducks!" ("We're brothers, we're soldiers, we're baby ducks!")

Here's the original, classic sequence for comparison:

"Cruel Angel's Thesis" maintains a love-hate relationship in Japan where it is simultaneously one of the most chosen karaoke songs and the #1 choice fans wish people would stop singing. There's no getting around that the song, 20 years since its premiere in 1995, isn't going anywhere.
