Naruto, Yakitate Japan Singer TiA Moves onto Next Round in Brooklyn 'X' Factor

Japanese pop-singer TiA is competing in a singing competition in New York tonight. TiA qualified for the final round of the competition after winning the Cheryl Pepsii Award for her performance of Whitney Houston's rendition of "I Will Always Love You" at the Apollo Theater.

She wrote on her Facebook post with the performance:

I performed at Apollo Theater. I got second place and advanced to next round . Show off is September 9TH. I really appreciate you guys coming to support me. Sometimes I homesick and miss my family and friends in Japan. Living in America is tough for me but always my friends and my family help me and encourage me.I love you guys and I won't give up on my dream.I'm on my way to touch the sky.

She also mentions in her post that she will return to Japan on June 21.

As part of Brooklyn 'X' Factor, TiA is pitted against 11 other talented vocalists to show off their stuff in front of a live audience. The grand prize is US$5,000 and the event will take place on June 2 at the NYSEC Theater in New York City. The winner will be decided through a live vote from those attending and the overall performance will be overseen by a panel of celebrity guests including Raekwon of hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Tickets are currently on sale for US$25 online, but will be available at the door for US$35.

In her career, she has peformed "Ryūsei" as the sixth ending for the Naruto anime and "Promise" for the second opening of Yakitake!! Japan.
