Watch Frois and Roborin Robots Tie the Knot

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

A crowd of supportive fans attended the marriage of Frois and Roborin on June 27 at CAY, a restaurant in Aoyama, Tokyo. The robot's flashy ceremony was officiated by Pepper, an emotion recognition robot developed by SoftBank.

Frois kissed his bride by extending his "mouth" away from his face and the cake was cut via a machine operated knife. Frois creator Maywa Denki also performed on stage with color-coded robots seen in the Quatroboom pachinko commercials and guests enjoyed a delicious buffet.

The groom is Frois, a robot designed by Maywa Denki using mostly cheap household items — for instance, his head is a bucket commonly used as a seat in Japanese bathrooms. Roborin, a robot made by Takayuki Tōdō to more closely resemble a human. She gained attention at last year's Nico Nico Chokaigi for her alleged close resemblance to AKB48 singer Yuki Kashiwagi.

The event included entertainment by illustrious guests, costume changes (er, "version upgrades"), a movie of the couple's time together, a letter from the bride, and other common wedding reception activities.
