Arpeggio of Blue Steel Cast Drops in on Wooser Episode

posted on by Eric Stimson
Miss Monochrome also made cameo

Episode 6 of Wooser's Hand-to-Mouth Life: Phantasmagoric Arc, "Director Wooser and the Twilight Era of Film," which aired on August 7, presents the diminutive creature as an aspiring film director. He hopes to enter a movie in a contest, make it big, be surrounded by adoring fangirls, and make enough money to live a luxuriously lazy life, but his movie just isn't clicking. Enter Kirishima, a pink teddy bear with lots of film experience... from the anime series Arpeggio of Blue Steel.

After a disorienting experiment with 3-D glasses (which makes Kirishima throw up), Wooser takes the cast into a battleship set to film an action scene. But it turns out that it's not a set, it's a real ship, and it soon comes under attack from Haruna (who's convinced she's using special effects).

The Arpeggio cameos are rounded out by the sudden appearance of Iona in the bridge, although she doesn't do much.

After the credits, the characters remind the viewers that Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova Cadenza, an Arpeggio movie, will premiere in October. (Both anime are animated by SANZIGEN Animation Studio.) The episode concludes with this illustration of Haruna and Rin holding Wooser and Kirishima, drawn by Hibiku Yamamura (Haruna's voice actress).

Wooser's Hand-to-Mouth Life has featured crossovers with other anime before. Episode 5, for instance, starred Miss Monochrome as a former associate of Wooser who parted ways to advance her singing career. The Wooser trophy she wins in this episode shows up in that week's episode of Miss Monochrome (which airs after Wooser).
