J-Pop Group AAA Holds 'Virtual Concerts' with Ice Cream Vending Machine

The J-pop group AAA (One Piece, InuYasha: The Final Act, World Trigger) is ready to make buying an ice cream cone more epic. The Ezaki Glico ice cream brand seventeen ice is normally sold as wrapped ice cream cones in vending machines, but Glico has designed a special vending machine with a massive touchscreen attached to a big dome. When customers select one of the 17 flavors, they will be treated to a special "virtual concert" projected onto the dome before the machine deposits the cone. The dance AAA performs varies depending on the flavor chosen.
The song performed in the above video is AAA's "Flavor of Kiss," a new single commemorating the group's 10th anniversary. The musicians also describe how seventeen ice epitomizes summer and high school friendships to them (the number "17" refers to the ice cream's target demographic). Mitsuhiro Hidaka cheers on his high school, Waseda Vocational, which is in the high school baseball championships in Kōshien this year. He then treats the audience to some freestyle rap about enjoying seventeen ice in the summer.
The 17AAA 360° Dome will be set up in Osaka's Umekita Plaza this weekend and will operate from 10 AM to 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday. In order to reserve a spot, AAA fans will need a ticket passed out between 8:30 and 9 AM.
Fans who can't make it to this "virtual concert" can always scan a QR code found on normal seventeen ice vending machines. This will take them to a site where they can fill out an application form to enter a lottery for a seventeen ice/AAA box. There are 289 available (17 for each of the 17 flavors). Fans can also download a free app to let them experience the concert.
