Snake Reveals His Kansai Side in Metal Gear Solid V

posted on by Eric Stimson
Breaks into dialect if properly blinged-out

The Metal Gear Solid games are known for their bizarre sense of humor and well-hidden secrets. Konami revealed an interesting one on Twitter on October 9: when Snake is equipped with "four or more" golden things in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain — the video shows a golden truck, golden shield, and golden body plating — he will speak in Kansai dialect. This probably refers to a stereotype of Osakans as being materialistic and gaudy.

The rough translations of Snake's quips are:

  • "How's this? Great, right?"
  • "I'm really rakin' it in!"
  • "I'll do a good job!"
  • "Sorry to keep you waiting."
  • "All right, let's go on the mission!"

This feature is only available in the Japanese version. Among Metal Gear Solid V's other goofy features is the option of wearing a chicken cap.
