Debuts at Mini 4WD Japan Cup 2015

Although mini 4WDs tend to be around 15 centimeters (5.9 inches) long, Japanese model maker Tamiya unveiled a more ambitiously scaled car at the Mini 4WD Japan Cup 2015 held at the MEGA WEB driving course in Tokyo on October 18. The "1/1" (life-sized) Aero AVANTE 4WD is 4.65 meters long, 2.8 meters wide, and 1.44 meters high (15'3'' × 9'2'' × 4'9''), and big enough for someone to actually drive.

The life-sized Aero AVANTE uses an air-cooled flat-four OHV 1.6-liter engine, has 4-speed manual transmission and can reach a speed of 180 km/h (112 miles/hour). It even includes rollers, even though they seem to have become redundant, and an exhaust note. The assembly team explained that they had emphasized "coolness" while making it.

For videos of the 1/1 Aero AVANTE's assembly, see the project website. 4WDs have also been developed for Nendoroids to ride in.
