Prominent Animator Shares Anecdote About Encounter with Police

posted on by Eric Stimson

The formidable workload of animation means that animators often have to work odd, long hours. Prominent animator Yutaka Nakamura (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Soul Eater) recounted an anecdote on Twitter on November 19 from the time he worked on Fullmetal Alchemist.

Once long ago, I was stopped by the police near the studio late at night.

This is how it went:
POLICE: Sorry for doing this in the middle of the night. Do you live around here?
NAKAMURA: My company's here.
POLICE: What kind of company?
NAKAMURA: An anime company.
POLICE (obtrusively): What are you working on?
NAKAMURA: Fullmetal and...
POLICE: (◎_◎) Thank you for your hard work! (๑•̀ㅁ•́๑)✧ *bows*

And after that, I wasn't stopped for questioning again. Hurray!
