Gosick Mangaka Creates Pencil-and-Paper Pop-Up Art

posted on by Carlos Cadorniga

The artist for the manga adaptation of light novel Gosick has brought 2D illustrations of the work to life on paper.

A recent Twitter post from Amano reveals work on several pop-up drawings of characters from the manga to promote the release of its complete set. Using only pencil and paper on a blank bound book, the artist was able to manipulate the shading pages to make the illustrations seem like they're jumping right out of the page.

The post and illustrations received immediate attention from the Gosick fanbase on Twitter, each of them expressing awe and praise for the hard work and detail put into the pop-up illustrations.
