Shonen Jump+ International Contest Offers Chance at Manga Publication

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

You could get your manga published on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app if you're lucky enough to win the latest contest put on by the app and MediBang. Editors for the app will review entries and also translate entries submitted in English, Korean, and Chinese (traditional and simplified) into Japanese, so there's no worries if you're not fluent in Japanese.

Entries will be accepted through MediBang's website until March 17. Submissions should becompleted one-shot stories that are 50 pages long and can be oriented in either left to right or right to left format.

Grand prize winners will receive one million yen (US$8,237), publication on Shonen Jump+, and editor feedback. Runner ups will also receive 300,000 yen (US$2,471), publication on Shonen Jump+, and editor feedback. Third place will get 100,000 yen (US$824) and editor feedback.

Shueisha and Animax Broadcast Japan held a separate contest this year awarding writers with the best anime scenario. Haruto Haneki won the award with the story "Luger Code 1951." Haneki will receive 2 million yen (about US$17,000) for winning the contest. "Luger Code 1951" will also be adapted into a manga within the year in Shonen Jump+.
